New Effigy Program: Embracing Sustainability

Dear sweet Element 11,
It’s time to make a change,
We’ve heard your thoughts and feelings
On this our yearly range.

Though burning’s been tradition,
Its impacts are not too small,
We must protect our planet
And heed its urgent call.

The smoke’s not fit for breathing,
And fires burn so quick,
We thought of something better
That we hope you’ll like a lick.

A drone show in its stead
Will be quite a sight to watch,
A spectacle of techie wonder
May even be top-notch

We hope you like this choice,
A show that’s not too hard,
on resources and environment
And still keep our lovely yard.

We’ll miss the fire’s beauty,
But the light will still be seen,
In a show that’s lasting,
Awesome and even green

So come and see the drones,
Enjoy the show on high,
We hope the change will bring
Much joy to you and I.

We hope that this letter finds you in good health and spirit. As you may or may not know, we have been discussing the possibility of a drone show instead of burning an effigy at our annual Element 11 event. After much deliberation, we have decided to move forward with the drone show in lieu of an effigy burn. We believe that this new and innovative approach is the best way to celebrate our community while also considering the environmental impacts of burning an effigy and the potential burnout of our volunteer team. The drone show will be a truly unique and beautiful display of creativity and imagination. It will be a visual representation of the spirit of our community, and will be a memorable experience for everyone. It will also be a far more sustainable option than burning an effigy, as it won’t create any additional pollution or require large amounts of volunteer hours to prepare. We hope that you are as excited about this decision as we are. We are confident that it will provide a memorable and meaningful experience for everyone involved.

Thank you for your support and enthusiasm. The temple burn will continue to be a part of the Element 11 experience as it always has been and there are no plans on changing this process. We understand how important the temple BURN is for our community as a symbol of catharsis (the process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from, strong or repressed emotions). With this, we want to assure our community that the temple burn will always be a part of Element 11.

Sincerely,

The Element 11 Board of Directors
